I love the way Elizabeth Berg writes. She's one of my favorite authors. These three books are sort of a trilogy, all about the same girl and her life growing up in the 60's. I've read the first two before, but it had been a couple of years so I decided to read them again. I loved them just as much as I did the first time I read them. I'm still reading True to Form right now. It's helping me get through the quiet, depressing times that are hovering around me all the time. It's nice to pop into someone else's life for a change, even if they are fictional characters.

No, it's about a 13 year old girl, Katie, whose mother died and she's living with her super strict father who is in the Army. He is somewhat physically abusive, lots of slapping and hitting and yelling. The book Durable Goods is the first book about Katie and her father is more abusive in that book than in Joy School and the third book of the series called True to Form. Elizabeth Berg didn't plan to write a trilogy about Katie, but it just sort of happened that way. So many readers wanted to know what happened to the 13 year old girl. Honestly, I hope she writes another one about her (if she hasn't already). They are very addicting books, especially when you read them in order.
