Busy, busy, busy
Yesterday was our busiest day of the week (Monday). And it didn’t disappoint us. It was definitely busy. I was busy at work, which is always good, cuz it makes the day go by quicker. Plus I had to run to the FedEx main hub over at the Airport to ship a Haz-mat sample to Mexico. Talk about a pain in the ass fiasco. Shipping Hazardous Materials is always a bitch. Then I had to pick up Claudia, take her home to get ready for Tap Dance class. I was able to relax a bit while I waited for her class to finish (1 hour) by looking at some new magazines I bought, while drinking some coffee. After dance, we had to stop by HEB to get some groceries and then from there we went to deliver a bunch of recycling stuff I’ve been collecting throughout the past week or so. I try to recycle as much stuff as I can every week, like cereal boxes, milk jugs, cat litter jugs, any and all cardboard boxes (shoe boxes, dry goods boxes, shipping boxes, etc), aluminum cans, glass bottles, and whatever else crosses my threshold. It makes me feel good to know I’m doing my part for the environment. If only the rest of the world would do the same, our planet just might be saved from total destruction by mankind and their ignorance and wastefulness. I can’t believe I never did this sort of thing in the past. Well, I’m doing my best to make up for it now.
Anyway…..when we got home from dropping off the recyclable stuff, I made her dinner. I bought a fully cooked roasted rotisserie chicken (the whole bird), which Claudia loves, and also made her a big spinach salad with tiny, baby carrots and a homemade roll from the bakery. She didn’t finish her dinner until almost 9:30 pm (b/c we didn’t get home from shopping until 8:45 p.m. or so due to her dance class not ending until 7:30). I had her jump in the shower and then jump into bed. It was close to 10:00 before she was finally in bed. Yep, it was a non-stop day all the way until the very end. Of course, after she was in bed, I made me a fresh cup of coffee, grabbed my journal and some reading material, and went outside to rest a bit. After a while of writing and reading, I went in and took a shower, then dried and straightened my hair, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it in the morning. I didn’t get to bed until 1:30 a.m. Crazy, I know. But hey, I’m a night person…always have been…so it’s really no big deal for me to go to bed so late. It usually catches up to me by Thursday and I’m going to bed much earlier…like 10:00 or so.
Today is a pretty easy day, compared to yesterday. No dance classes, which ALWAYS makes my day easier. After work, I'm going to make angel hair pasta and marinara-meat sauce for dinner (a.k.a. spaghetti) per Claudia's request. Then I'll go outside and plant some new English thyme into pots and plant about 9 tomato plants out back in the Wisteria garden. Here are some pictures of my Wisteria vine which I only just discovered about 2 weeks ago. I was elated!! Isn't it divinely beautiful??! And the scent is so wonderful, too.
My backyard is the home of lots of other flowers, such as huge climbing red roses, rosemary, white and purple iris, Easter lilies, and soon-to-have climbing blue Morning Glories and white Moonflowers. There are many more, but I don't know all their names at the moment.
I've posted a bunch of pictures today of other flowers that surround my house on all sides. Go check them out and see what you think. :-)
You know what?
I REALLY love this time of year! Flower gardening is my favorite hobby...can you tell? (right next to READING, of course.) :-)
I'll take pictures of the herbs and tomatos once I get them planted and will share them here on my blog.
