Well, I got Dallas neutered this week, which is a huge relief to me. I think everyone should do this to ALL their pets. There are just too many homeless animals that are euthanized every day because people don't get their animals fixed and, whenever babies are born, they end up disowning them or letting them run the streets where they get picked up by "Animal Control".
Have I mentioned that I HATE ANIMAL CONTROL?
Anyway...he's doing fantastic and is in no pain at all. He's already back to his happy, go lucky self. Plus I got his rabies shot and had him tested for this, that, and the other (worms & stuff) and he's good to go.
Now I need to find him home.
Anyone interested?
I have found someone who wants to take him, but I'll have to drive 3+ hours to get him there. This doesn't bother me much since it will end with a permanent home for Dallas to a good person who will more than likely spoil him rotten. But if I find a good home for him closer to Abilene, I'll consider giving him to someone else. My friend has already said it would be okay, one way or the other.
Another thing I've had the pleasure (NOT) of learning is that Dallas Looooooves to chew on EVERYTHING! Aaaah man! It FIGURES I'd end up with a sweet dog that is flawed only by his addiction to chewing anything and everything he can get his teeth onto. So far he's chewed up the following:
- A pair of my most comfortable suede shoes
- The swimming pool I bought him to cool down in during the summer heat.
- Three rugs
- Two bottles of doggie shampoo
- Two pairs of leather garden gloves
- Two water hoses (I could have killed him on this one)
- A BBQ grill scrubber thingie
- His brand new $25 harness, which was accidentally left on the patio table (arrrrrgh!)
- His hair brush
- A big ball of rolled up jute string
- More things that I can't think of right now.
Yeah...see? Chewing fetishes in big 85 lb dogs SUCKS! But, since he's still very young and still growning (his feet are HUGE and he still needs to grow into them), I'm hoping he'll eventually grow out of it. Plus, yesterday, I went to the grocery store and bought lots of giant bones and rawhides and chewing things to distract him from my personal stuff. My fingers are crossed and I'm hoping this will help. I'll take some pictures of him this weekend and let you all see how healthy and happy he looks since he's been living in my paradise backyard. Of course, it won't be a paradise for much longer if he keeps EATING everything.
One of my favorite authors, Jen Lancaster, has chosen to include Texas on her tour list. Amazing! Now I just have to BEG my boss to let me out of the office in time to drive to either Round Rock/Austin on Wednesday (only 2.5 days away...yeah, a tad short notice, but what the hell, I'll give it a try). Below is the pertinent information for all Texan fans:
